The Greatest Fear

 What’s happened to her…
What’s happened to her?
She sits behind closed doors burning incense and candles,
listening to love songs on the radio,
hoping beyond hope that her love is not unrequited,
trembling in fear of her deep affections for him.
She lights another bowl and inhales deeply as she relaxes into the big comfortable chair.
Visions of possible things to come run thru her mind.
Joy mixes with fear.
Uncertainty runs strong like a swift stream on a cool fall day.
Her thoughts are of him…
Always of him…
Oh how the strength of her love frightens her.
A chill runs thru her spine and she takes another hit from the bowl.
The smoke circles her head and she leans back and closes her eyes and lets the drug take effect.
“Just love me like I love you”, she whispers out loud as she tokes once more from the bowl.
She glances about at the room and her eyes come to rest upon the lighted candle in the center of the table.
It glows brightly in the dim room.
They say if you look long enough you can see things in the flame.
I see Tranquility
and
Joy,
a bit of Uncertainty…
Will I see Love?
What’s happened to her…
What’s happened to her?
She sits behind closed doors burning incense and candles,
listening to love songs on the radio,
hoping beyond hope that her love is not unrequited,
trembling in fear of her deep affections for him.
She lights another bowl and inhales deeply as she relaxes into the big
comfortable chair.
